YOMA is a community youth organization created By Youth, For Youth in Manotick and the surrounding rural communities of Ottawa. YOMA represents the on-going need for a secure, safe, accessible and welcoming space for youth in the area. The ultimate goal of YOMA is to be able to build a youth centre, which would offer community focused social and preventative programs, intervention services, life skills development and leadership opportunities.
YOMA meets weekly allowing for local area youth to join in and enjoy the activities and services provided by our organization. Youth members also meet regularly with program staff to discuss and plan weekly events and activities for youth in the community. For more information, visit www.yoma.ca.
About the Richmond Youth Centre (RYC)
Richmond Youth Centre is a community-based youth group run by the Richmond Village Association in conjunction with Western Ottawa Community Resource Centre and the City of Ottawa. RYC meets on the 2nd and 4th Friday of the month upstairs at the Richmond Memorial Community Centre and offers programming for local youth. Programming ideas are youth-driven and range from sports, crafts, movie night and karaoke, to presentations by firefighters, Youth Net, Public Health and Harvest House.
The success of the youth centre from 2014-2016 for 12-16 year olds resulted in expansion to ages 8-11 in the fall of 2016. With the expansion it is exciting to see the older youth offer to volunteer with the younger youth; resulting in friendships amongst the two age groups. We are pleased to offer a safe, secure place where youth can come together within their own community! For more information visit www.richmondvillage.ca.
